I was driving through the back yard on my '48 S/A to put it away when I heart the loudest crack. I had been doing some light dirt moving & was just "crusin" back to it's parking place. The crack was followed by a tik tik tik which continued 'till I parked it. When I let the clutch out the tic tic tic came back. Ok, that means it is in the transmission. In looking at the picture in the service manual the only gears in mesh while in neutral must be the reverse idler set. Am I correct or am I missing something?
