The reason I am asking this group is that I have found that a lot of people here know a lot of stuff.... so, here goes with my problem.
I have a very old Briggs and Stratton horizontal Shaft engine. Not overhead valves.
I am rebuilding this engine. The sheet metal on it was very rusty, I removed it, and not thinking, I threw the piece with the aluminum data plate into the muratic acid. The data plate is of course history. Now my problem is, how on earth am I going to identify this unit so I can buy parts for it?????? I think I have gotten myself into a mess...I hope someone knows how to salage my situation.
The thing learned is...do not put aluminum in muratic acid!!!
