We had a '68, 2wd version of that set-up for 25+ years. Was a strong, reliable truck with plenty of pulling power. Problem areas:
Brakes - non-power brakes need a LOT of pedal effort, and the linings wear out fast. Sheetmetal (including the gas tank) are highly prone to rust. Lousy heat/defroster - blows only a little air and two temperatures: cold and colder. The 345 a pig on gas. Plan on 8-9 mpg running light. You'll be lucky to see 6 when towing...
