unless my memory is out to lunch, adjusting air pressure could also help a little with worn tires and traction. in the 50s, one of the tire manufacturers had a tread depth to loaded inflation height ruler/gauge. I saw an ad for it in a 1954 successful farming magazine.
basically you measured your tread lug depth with the tool, noted the mark, placed the device on the ground, and compared rim height to the marks matching the tread depth measurement. sorry i do not have a scanner. but i can at least identify the brand later tonight.
