330 utility governor problem

My Dad's 330 utility started running wide open and he couldn't slow the engine down with out shutting it off. I thought it may be the spring in the governor. I pulled the governor apart and the spring was fine. The linkage was pretty crusty and tight,when I cleaned it in the parts washer, it became loose. The weights apear in good shape. I'm waiting for the I&T book so I figured maytbe I could get a head start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Buzz
