I imagine the pto is starting to slip and needs readjusting. When you push you slow the snow feed the blower and it builds up speed again.
Search the archives for Adjusting PTO, you might add 300U.
JimN and I had a good discussion on that and it might clear things up for you. Adjusting the pto correctly is simple once you follow the correct procedure. If you don't have a manual go to IH parts page for pictorial.
Mine slipped for years until I took the time to adjust it correctly.
