It sounds like the same thing that happened to my super M.Push down on the shift lever and remove the pin that crosses thru it and then lift it out. Use a large screwdriver or small pry bar to line up the slots that the shift lever goes in. The bottom of my lever was worn and I built it up with weld. I have a good neighbor who owns several farmalls and says this is quite common.
