Doug- You're probably being overly cautious, but... Try this procedure, it's always worked for me. Drain the fuel tank and flush it with some fresh gas. Put what you drained in your pick-em-up truck tank. Fill the tractor tank with fresh no-lead. Avoid the alcohol blends if you can. Pull the spark plugs and give each hole ten to fifteen pumps with an oil can filled with #10 motor oil. Look over the plugs for any problems, but don't expect any if it was running good when you last shut it down. With the plugs out, spin the engine for a minute or two. That'll splash oil all the upper cylinder areas and also re-fill and lube up the pressure feed oil system without any running load and stress on parts needing oil. Put the plugs back in. Remove the drain plug on the bottom of the carb. Open the tank fuel valve and let the system flush a bit with fresh gas. Put the drain plug back in and fire that thing up! Let it just sit and run at fast idle (800 RPM or so) for a while. After it has warmed up, check the oil. If you don't see the dipstick metal shine thru the oil film change it. Or, just change it anyway. From there, ponder the full PM schedule recommendations. Good luck, IHank

Elliott said while this
