Sounds like your float level is set too high. We put a kit in our SC & we had to go 3 times to get the float level right. Adjust the float down 3/16 inch at a time to try it. This would be measured with the carb held upside down & measured to the flat surface where the bowl & gasket fit on the base of the carb.
