History: Lots of family members us the 45 H and it seems that they can't gauge how long to leave on high charge and when to switch to low charge.Resulting in a over charged batter or a under charged batter.
So I decided to installed a 3 Terminal voltage regulator in place of the cut out.
I got it wired up correctly and it charges at about 4 amps thru out the rpm range. but when I turn the lights on it drops to negative. I can ground the field and it will show a charge. It appears the regulator might not be doing it's job? I know the generator will put out 20+ amps at full throttle.
If the amp meter is showing -2 amps with the lights on at idle should it not show a slight positive chage when I rev up the motor???
