Actually there is some evidence that DDT is safe, that the problems blamed on DDT were the result of PCBs. PCBs were banned at the same time as DDT, so any recovery of bird populations would look the same regardless of which one was to blame. The environmentalists will not test to see if DDT is actually safe, because if testing proved DDT is safe then they get blamed for millions dead from malaria.
DDT is also one of the few insecticides effective against bedbugs.
