The starter motor does not produce enough torque to bend rods or hurt other parts, if it did then there would be lots of tractor with bent rods from having water in the cylinders. By the way ya I did not say to pull them back out but I figure that is a given any how I just say to be sure to put them back in when your not doing any thing to it to keep thing out that would hurt the engine. BTDT on many tractor with the plugs still in just to see if it would move which also helps to lube the valves because the ATF get to the valves by doing so
