John:There are springs from the top of each drum, going to each of the brake pedals on right and to clutch pedal on left. I not quite sure I'm understanding you correctly.
On the glow plugs, if you know batteries are close 100% the glow plug meter at dash will go to extreme right if all are working. For each sixth meter drops back you know one is not working. To test individual glow plugs pull wire at plug and hook a test light between wire and plug. If it lights you know that one works. Glow plug button has to be engaged during test.
