All 1948 models were Super A, and all Super A have hydraulics, Farmall A don't. The model change occured in late 1947. Hydraulics is the big difference between the two.
The belly sickle mower model number for Super A is called A-22. I'm not sure whether there was ever a hand lift version of the A-22 for the Farmall A. Given the similarities of the two tractors, and the fact some of the hand lifts use the same geometric lift as hydraulics, it would have been an easy change over.
