AS far as the charging system, the 4 position LHBD was for use with a Cutout Relay while the 3 position OBD was for use with Voltage Regulators.
If a Cutout Relay is used you need to be able to regulate the gennys charge rate and thats done by wiring its FLD post up to the LHBD switch so it gets a dead ground (High charge) or a resisitve ground (Low charge)..
If a Voltgage Regulator is used the gennys FLD post wires to the FLD terminal on the VR so theres no need for any genny to light switch wiring, the VR controls the charge rate i.e. you dont need LOW and HIGH charge light switch, the light switch controls the LIGHTS ONLY NOT LIGHTS PLUS CHARGE
As far as any rear light use and what switch Jim or Bob M can answer better then me I havent owned IHC in yearsssssssssssssss
