I've never had a problem with brazing on manifolds. However I now make a patch from 2mm mild steel and gasweld it (oxy/acetelene) using a low a pressure as possible to minimise the heat spread. I use cast iron rods and a high silicone flux. If I'm out of cast rods I use old piston rings, if you do this they get very hot very quick and they are murder to grind. If possible bolt the manifold in place on an old cylinder head so that it doesn't warp. MTF
