Assuming this is the original carb you were asking about the other night, presumably a 161x7 . . .
The measurement should be 1-5/32" (one and 5/32) to what would be the bottom of the float, the top as you have the carb upide down, but I caution that the IH book is a little ambiguous. The written word says that the measurement is taken from the "machined surface" of the carb body to the bottom of the float. The accompanying illustration, though, shows the measurement being taken with the gasket in place.
Don't know if the gasket in your kit is thick enough to make any appreciable difference between the two measurements or not.
