Thank you for the good advice. I decided to wait until the hood was on before attaching the fuel strainer. So... I proceeded to put the hydraulic lift on for the first time and in the process did not remove the throttle rod although I did remove the choke rod. When I got done the tail light was no longer working, but the starter does work. After tightening wire connections and unsucessfully locating the issue, I sighed and put the Cub to bed for the night. Next I will check to see whether I have power to the front lights and go on from there. I may have to remove the hydraulic lift and work on the electrical again.
