John, Another wat to determine what year (fairly close, anyway) is by using the casting codes of the major castings. Look for something like a small plate with screws in it. The casting codes were screwed to the forms and look something like @4@21@H@. The @'s represent the screw heads and the code for this combination would br April 21, 1938. Also it could represent a later year and be 1962. Guy Fay's International Harvester Tractor Data Book has an entire section on the various numbers found on tractor parts. At about $10 it's well worth the price. It can be purchased online from Amazon or Barnes and Noble and other places as well as the regular retail stores. Phil
