Hugh the low ash is for gassers only and for the diesels the no.1 oil is for the diesels only. And on a gasser ya MUST USE the low ash to keep deposits from forming on the exhaust valves as they will torch a cute little Vee wright out of a Stelite valve faster then ya can believe .The low ash should be used on all the later 4 cyl and 6 cylinders like from the 58 modle's on up thru the 856 gasser . they run hotter and turn more RPM's
