"oily" is a clue here. The air filter element is non (maintenance) replaceable. The cup of oil at the bottom is all that needs to be cleaned and refilled. If you clean and refill it every oil change, you will never have to worry about the mesh inside the filter. Oil-bath filters like the C and Super C have are only problematic when neglected; the oil and dust turn to a sludge and plug up the mesh.
