If you set the distributor or magneto to fire at TDC while rolling engine in normal rotation without using a timming light you are already compensating for slack in the timming gears. Most M don"t have a mark on pulley to show were full advance is. If you need a exact setting its best to find out if original pointer is exactly at TDC and then mark degrees on crank pulley or use a degree wheel. Also would pay to check distributor if using one, lots of M have the part for full advance setting changed from original.
