.....and thats with weights and in 2ed with no TA and in average conditions in northern cornbelt country. The TA was hyped in '54 as being just for tough spots rather than having to stop and downshift and start again in a lower gear. IT wasn't long befor many used the extra gearing to select better ground speeds. When your trying to beat the weather, ya do what ya gotta do. An example would be rotory hoeing in 5th under at maybe 80% RPM. Light load at lower RPM but yet fast ground speed. People push tractors just like some push all speed limits in their cars wheather or not its good for the design....h
