It is not to hard you just have to take your time. Either way if its a gear or bearing you still have to go inside. I agree with arod chances are its a bearing.. You'll have to take everything off the top, i.e. belt pully, seat, gas tank. I use the parts manual.. It has exploded views of the parts and the part numbers. You can get it from Binder Books. Make sure you have a hoist to lift the top off its real heavy and saw horses to set it on.. The shift forks will come with the top. When puting it back on just make sure the shifter and the shifting forks are in neutral and the same with the gears and it will slide right back on.. The key to the job its taking your time..
