Thanks for the advice. I did remove and clean the carb again and used compressed air to blow everything out. Reassembled and still has an irratic idle. I removed the top Governor cover, and I can use a screwdriver to hold linkage steady. It will idle perfectly smooth, then eventually get in a fit where the governor starts it's up and down. I am 99% satisfied it is not electrical. My local Case IH service manager of 35+ years has told me this is the nicest original Farmall (of any model) he has ever seen. Just mentioning that so you know it's not a worn out piece of junk. My grandfather was relentless with his care and maintenance of this tractor. I am baffled as it has always run flawless and I see nothing obvious. Would replacing any of the Governor parts cure it?
