I have a question on the filter element that is used on the Farmall M (mine is 1949). The filter cartridge has a metal fitting sticking out of each end, one is about an inch long and one about 1/2 inch long. Which end (long or short) goes in the down position when the filter is installed? I think it is the long fitting facing down but I want to be sure.
