Has anybody successfully driven timing gears on camshaft and drive shaft without removing the shafts from the tractor? It has been suggested that maybe heating the gear in an oven to about 200 + degrees might make it possible. Has anybody done it and survived?
How about pressing the gears on using large C-Clamps and a cross bar arrangement? Maybe using heat too. Any body been there and done either of these things?
Not being that much of a mechanic, I hesitate really digging in and remove the shafts if it can be helped. If I did that, I might has well attempt a full engine overhaul (which the old baby could use). But that would put me out of business for the rest of the summer for sure -- maybe permanently!
