The Operators Manual gives instructions for setting the points. Set the opening point to 0.020" gap when the rubbing block is on the lobe of the distributor cam. If the gap is not correct, loosen the screw on the fixed point and move it until the gap is correct after you have tightened the screw.
Two things to pay attention to: 1) make sure that the points meet squarely. It is possible to twist the moveable point when you tighten the nut that holds the spring. 2) you have to reset the timing.
