You mentioned that you started with the screws at 1 1/2 turns, set your fuel screw with engine running with a load on it or high rpm's. Usually turn it in till it starts to run rough then back it out about 1/2 turn. The idle mixture should be richer when you turn it in & leaner when you turn it out. If its flooding when you start it, try not chocking it so much, if its hand start just 1/2 a turn with choke on & if its electric start then get it cranking & pull choke out & push it back very quickly. Maybe even try starting with no choke at all.
