I finally got the little Cub tractor out from the corner of the shop and rebuilt the carb. The engine started fine, but very soon started leaking engine oil profusely from the clutch bell housing straight down onto the floor.
I think the rear main engine seal is totally gone. I"ve never had the tractor apart. I bought it several years ago as a restoration project. My question: Once I split the tractor, how big a deal is it to replace the seal? Will I have to drop the crankshaft out, or can I put it in with the crank still in place?
I"m waiting for some technical literature to help me through this, but I thought I would tap into some well earned knowledge found on this website. Any tips would be appreciated.
