Allan is one the right track. The 560D has a check valve in the fuel return line at the tank. When the governor elasticast ring starts to disentigrate it plugs the check valve so that fuel can not return to the tank. If this is what is happening crack the fuel return line at the pump when the engine starts to die and the engine will pick up speed as the pressure in the return line is relieved. Also check to see that the vent hole in the fill cap is not pluged.
