A friend of mine had that type of problem on his 450. What I did to fix it was got some muffler putty from an auto parts tore and put it around where the pipe and the manifold hook up and then he has no more ware problems. Another way to stop it is to make a flange that can be welded to the pipe just above the manifold so the water will run off to the side either one works. One good thing it you should have little or no carbon build up in the engine now
