I am not sure if you know this or not, but Farmall M's were equipped with two different sized filters depending on their age. All M's up until the change over at serial number FBK-59393 used a large filter that was around 6 or 7 inches in diameter. All M's after the changeover used a smaller canister that was around 4 inches in diameter. I just know that our 1940 Farmall M has the large filter and the 1951 W6 (same motor) has the large filter. The part number for the large filter is 257867R92. The small filter has the option between a heavy duty filter and a normal duty filter which are 360431R91 (normal duty) and 355010R91 (heavy-duty).
