Good luck on finding a clear answer to your question. A very very few owners of smtalp report having a C or N code stamped on serial tag and engine block. Most I have looked at from the place in Texas that installed the LP system have a D or E code or no code. D and E code is for high altitude pistons which would raise the compression to work better on LP. To further confuse things no IH SM parts book showes any of the LP parts for a SMTA that would be different from a regular SM.
