Woods mowers on 140??

I keep seeing reference to folks who have a woods mower on their tractors. My neighbor has one on an 8N with a 3pt hitch. Do you need a 3pt. to adjust the cutting height.? How can you hook one up to a red tractor with fast-hitch, and what about the pto..does it turn the right way..?? Pleas let me know what to do.
