I tried the inserts on a 300U that fouls plugs and didn't have much luck with them. I eventually took them out and ran a hotter plug as suggested on this board, which has worked great.
We have been "hanging" the wires (boot off the plug) for years. This allows the gap for the spark jump to keep it running smooth. Haven't had to do this much with the hotter plugs in it. I like the "cutting the button" solution though. How much of a gap is cut in the wire?
