on the 606, the gearshift is between your legs, right? i bet it is susceptible to the same issues as the H M, and so on. you might try pulling the shift lever out and using a prybar to align your trans in neutral, and then inspect for wear on your shifter before reassembling. it might need to be built up and ground to fit. many posts on this for H and M in the archives. hard shifting could be partially caused by a worn lever or a lever missing its pivot pin. could be (more likely) other issues too.
