My grandpa told me a story once about a gas thief. When he was a boy, his dad and uncles operated a thrashing crew with 2 machines, 2 F-20's and some mules. At the end of the day, they would fill the tanks up so they would be ready to go come morning. Over a day or two, they'd fire up the machines, run for just a bit, and they'd die. Found out all the gas had been stolen. One of his uncles had the idea to drain all the gas, fill the tanks with water(probably not a good idea, but it was the '30s) and let the crook experience what they call karma. The next morning, when they went to the field, they saw a Model A roadster sitting on the road, and the thief snoozing in the seat. Needless to say, they "persuaded" him not to do it again.
