Dad had a loader on his H and it wouldn't go in one hoghouse with the muffler on. He just loosened the clamp and we pulled it off and put a 1 gallon paint can on it so we didn't blow sparks up into the straw insulation over woven wire ceiling. We never retightened the clamp when we put the muffler back on and it rode down on the hood and wallowed out the hole in the hood and burned the paint off. Not pretty. My neighbor has a Massey utility where the muffler is horizontal above the hood after a quarter turn pipe. It then has another turn up or sideways, I can't remember out of the muffler. It is out of the way, but the exhaust in your face stinks. A friend was going to put a 180 degree pipe on his H and blow the exhaust down, but sold the tractor before he did it.
