I have the same problem - both my storage shed and house garage overhead doors are low but the steering wheel on the H will clear. I considered removing the muffler but that will be a pain (let it cool off OR have gloves on hand then you have to find a safe place for a hot muffler, I would also be afraid of sparks, etc) not to mention the noise. I considered designing a large "knuckle" or flex joint but that would be overboard and probably wouldn't look to nice. Then it came to me. Some of the bigger, newer IH's came with straight pipe or so I thought. Actually the muffler is under the hood and that is what I am designing. A simple resonator that will bolt to the manifold and run up toward the fan and back to make it's exit thru the existing hole thru a nice shiny straight pipe. I'll use stainless square tube and have baffles welded in place. I realize the heat close to the hood may scorch the paint so it will have a heat sheild and some foil tape like they use near snowmobile exhausts will be installed inside the hood. I wish my rebuild was done because I'm excited about this project.
