There id a thread two or three pages back on H M dipsticks. I think the thread stated the mark was 9" from the washer. If you over fill it there is no problem. Do keep it below the top to allow expansion when warm. There is no reason not to use Hydraulic oil except the thinner oil will not build quite as much pressure as 20-40 oil. But it should be fine. The compromise is often made when other tractors are used with common equipment. JimN
