It just depends on how much money you want to spend and what you plan to do with her when she's done. If you plan to get serious about shows and such you might try to restore the original. Having it re-chromed is probably not cheap, although there are some nice near-chrome finishes available - try the Eastwood company. If you will take it to a few local parades and otherwise use it for work around your place, the reproductions are a good way to go and inexpensive. I will warn you however, the new plates dont fit the same as the originals. Have you considered using the original by just buffing paint off the high points - some people like the old look.
