If you have the IH battery ignition dist, there is an O ring on the dist shaft behind the gear. The shaft will have to come out to get to it. Most likely cause of the oil is over lubrication or incorrect lubrication. There is (or should be) a slotted head 1/8 pipe plug on the dist body. This plug is to be removed and a grease fitting put in its place, then apply 1 or 2 shots with a grease gun maybe once a year. Then remove the grease fitting and replace the plug to prevent over lubrication.
