Go to the www.caseih.com website and go through the two parts search screens and put in 2444 and see if the steering system matches yours. There are other models that may have the same steering system. Two lines going to a steering head sounds like you have a hand pump under the steering wheel.
I fought power steering problems with my 2606 for a long time. Found one of the bypass valves that was in the draft control housing under the seat had a piece of metal holding the check ball open. Don't have one finger steering but at least I can turn the wheels now.
Look for an open bypass somewhere, there are a few of them.
