Welding up the shifter where it engages the shifter forks comes up regularly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the wear at the foot of the shift leaver should be side-to-side and not top-to-bottom. Correct? If so, does anyone know what the original width was? I would also think that the wear at the bottom corners would be more pronounced than the top. So would it be OK to measure the width at the top and just square the foot up?
