Patrick: Carburator or gas flow. Either you've got a gas flow restriction from tank or going into the carb. Could be the float or needle valve sticking. Can you save it from stalling with choke? I may not be right but those are worth checking.
Definitely not valves or coil. Valves wouldn't changes in a few min. Coil would be 30-45 min before it would fire up again. Could be points and condencer, they will sometimes act that way. Either that or gas flow.
