Hi all,
Just for the record, my 460 couldn't dive in a snowpile with out sputtering and dying.
I've improved my worn distributor, spruced up the rest of ignition and electrical, checked valve lash, clean carb, still sputtered when it the governor kicked in.
Then in the TLC process I noticed the hand throttle linkage was loose so I built up some of the worn connections. Finally I saw the long rod from the control panel to the governor was bent and binding on the rod from governor to carb. I rebent them to give them clearance.
Finally we got a modest snow in east central MN, enough to clear the driveway. After a couple hesitant governor actions, it started limbering up. After a half hour of getting to work the way it should, that governor and engine were a delight to work with.
