I am putting this question out for consideration in hopes of an explanation: I installed the mag on a Farmall B and did the initial timing using the mark on the inside bell housing and mark on the flywheel. Using the hand crank, I verified the timing was set correctly, by rotating the motor slowly in the clockwise direction until the mag's click was heard. The next step was to verify the timing was set correctly by using an induction timing light on number 1 or number 4 (in this case, either one works to verify) cylinder plug wire. With the engine idling, I spotted the caulked flywheel mark near the 8 o'clock position, looking forward in the inspection opening at the flywheel, instead of where it should be at the 6 o'clock position. Why is it that the mark is approximately 50-60 degrees off location using the timing light and yet the static timing is correct? Am I overlooking something here?
