I have a Monarch electric lift on my PU snowplow. The motor on it is about the size of a smaller car starter. If you use it a bunch, the alternator will work pretty hard to keep up. Last time I got my alternator worked on, I got a 100 amp unit. Many times that alternator belt is squalling trying to keep up with the alternator load. All in all, the system works very well, but the point is that you have to have a good charging system capable of many amps to keep up. (My truck has dual batteries, and your tractor probably only has one.)
