Patrick: I'm assuming this number, 123CT2U133863 is stamped just below number 1 spark plug, right or wrong? If it is stamped, 133863 is the engine serial number, and if that be so, you have a 1974 - 140.
Casting codes are cast in place using raised digits. If as I assumed above the tractor is a 1974, the letter in you casting date code should be S or T. The other mater to look for here is IH may have stopped using letters in the date codes and it could in fact say 74. I've seen this some in castings as new as the 70s.
